Sterling Brooch Mythical Cherubs order Ancient Roman Frieze Style

This is a fabulous piece from the 1930's or 1940's at my best estimate. I believe this piece is an Art Nouveau or Arts and Crafts brooch. It is not marked or signed but tests as sterling silver. The style is that of an ancient Roman frieze, showing several cherubs leading and/or riding a long haired horned goat.

The brooch is 2 3/4 inches by 1 7/8 inches. It weighs 1.09 troy ounces (34 grams).

This piece is in good condition. The sterling has use and wear marks, but no major dents, or dings. It is a cast sterling piece with order some roughness in the craftsmanship, typical of Arts and Crafts pieces. The pin and catch function well.

This is a wonderful vintage sterling piece that may date to the 1930's or 1940's. The design is striking and mythical with the humor and whimsy of ancient Roman frieze, often found in Pompeii.
