Handwoven vintage indigo/denim African Baule Ikat from Ivory Coast

Size: 56” x 48”

Reversible double fringe, double sided thin handwoven cream and dusty indigo baule fabric with multi-print panels and multi-colored lines and bright embroidered details.

This baule has an exciting multiple print pattern. Each panel has a different pattern from order the next one.

This decorative textile can be placed on the bed, hung on the wall/ as a tapestry, thrown over a chair or couch, used as a blanket, as a beach/picnic blanket or to be turned into pillowcases or chair upholstery.

This unique vintage piece is very soft and has aged really well and will also be perfect as a shawl or a scarf.

African artisans hand-dye symbols into these fabrics in order to tell stories or their villages and African proverbs. They are individually hand spun, handwoven and hand painted. Each piece is different and no two are exactly alike.

Please note that authentic baule fabrics are several panels stitched together, have a raw edge and may need to be reinforced if they are to be used for projects.

This is a unique vintage piece and due to the handmade nature of these traditional mudcloths, may contain imperfections, giving you a truly unique piece. They add to the overall character and history of the piece.
