Product Name: Hermann Rosse pen, pencil, watercolor illustration "The order Amir and the Afghan"

A book illustration, drawn in pencil and ink with watercolor by Dutch-American painter, illustrator and architect Hermann Rosse (1887-1965). The drawing inside the mat measures 5 x 5 inches. It is titled by the artist, "The Amir and the Afghan." Rosse's initials are in tiny script in the lower right of the illustration. On the back is descriptive information about this work and the artist. On the back lower right corner is a label order from Gump's of San Francisco. It was originally sold in the first half of the 20th century and retains its original gilt wood frame.

CONDITION: The illustration appears to be in very good condition, although it has not been examined outside its frame. There are a few, very faint, light spots in the margins. The frame has light surface damage. The back dustcover is torn.
