This superb color is due to the chromium and vanadium contained in the Tanzanite mines.

It is a silicate that belongs to the group of amphiboles. It is formed by metamorphism of sediments rich in dolmite and quartz.
Its color is due to iron, chromium and vanadium present in the hills of Mérélani.
