Antique French Holy Water Font, or benitier from the late 19th / early 20th century. In gilded bronze, with a central scene of the nativity, this is a beautiful item of religious décor order and a special Catholic gift.

The benitier is richly decorated with angels, cherubs, swags, shells and flowers - all typical of the art nouveau era. The central nativity plaque features Mary and the baby in a basket, a king and shepherd, angels and a cow.

The lidded font is a beautifully molded head of Christ.

Condition is totally authentic with some light rubbing and surface marks - totally in keeping with its age. The font is slightly more worn than the rest of the beniter and has some vertigris. There is a hook on the back for wall-hanging.

Measurements approx 12.5" (32cm) x 7" (18cm)
It weighs approx 2lbs (1.8kg).
