ⵥ BLACK TORQUE with Olive Wood Pendant ⵥ
⪘ Process
This unique and original creation is made from Portuguese olive tree trunks that we have on our land. Once cut, we cut it into the thinnest boards possible. The olive tree is what we call a "noble wood", since it is very slow to grow and therefore very dense, which gives it its beauty but also its difficulty to work with. We then create a unique design and engrave it with a laser machine. Once out, we sand the pendant by hand with various sandpapers to give it its final shape and the softness of its wood. Finally, we coat the piece with linseed oil.
⪘ History
A few years ago, Portugal suffered a fire and more than half of the country was reduced to ashes. The centuries-old olive trees that supported families were decimated and left a sad and dark landscape. Although nature is now busy rebuilding, some tree carcasses from this unfortunate event still lie in the forests.
Determined to work as much as possible with ecological and local materials, we managed to obtain more than satisfactory results with what we had as 'garden bulky'! We are therefore very pleased to announce these future collections with this robust, durable, beautiful and recycled material.
⪘Technical information

⪘ Meaning
