This is a beautiful silk weaving by Elizabeth Eger Nordgren (b. 1932), a native of Shenectady, NY. It is constructed on a painted warp of tussah silk. The primary colors are blue and pink. The design includes brass accents.

Elizabeth received her FFA from Syracuse University. She worked as a commercial artist for the General Electric company for a number of years.

Elizabeth's work has won multiple awards, and she became a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen in 1973. All League members have to go through the League's jury process and meet its rigorous standards for creativity, innovation, and technical expertise.

The frame measures 18 1/4 inches high x 10 inches wide. The art piece including brass measures 13" high x 7 1/2" wide.

Silk weaving is one of ancient China's greatest inventions. Legend says that it was Lei Zu, the wife of Emperor Huang Di, that invented silk weaving, some 4,000 years ago!
