Vintage Meisen kimono, order midcentury

A vibrant vintage kimono made from meisen silk in royal purple with red, order white and an almost neon yellow.

The kimono is lined with red and peachy pink cotton.

Meisen weaving began in the early 20th century, and was very popular in the 20s through to 50 . Meisen kimono have bold and often very brightly coloured designs inspired by Western modernist art.

By 1960 meisen production had virtually come to a halt, with just a couple of artesian makers.

I believe this kimono to be 50s, but it's pretty hard to date.

The kimono is on excellent condition. The lining is clean and bright.

There are a few little pulls.

The last two photos are taken outside and are a great representation of the true colour.
