Making Waves order

This gourd has been fashioned into a unique and one-of-a-kind basket with the use of a bamboo handle. A wavy cut was made to accommodate the handle, attached with waxed linen and bead order dangles. The inside was decoupaged with handmade paper. The two-tier design uses traditional Japanese flying cranes and ocean waves, accented with gold leaf bubbles. It was wood burned then painted with acrylic paint, and finished with clear acrylic spray for protection. It is initialed and dated on the bottom.
