Design:
This is style # 184 of our online design selection catalog. The feature gems are prong bezel set into the solid baskets, a secure mount that leaves most of the gem on display. The backs of the baskets are open to allow light to enter the gems. Vertical sticks lead to and from the gems making the stones the central focus. The French style wire hooks are attached to a ring on top the sticks to allow movement as the earrings dangle.

Specifics:
The gems are green Chrome Diopside with eye clean clarity. These gems are unheated, natural gems from India. They are hand faceted ovals measuring 10.1 x 8.1 x 5.2 mm and are weighing 6.09 carat together. Diopside has a hardness of 5-6 on moh's scale, a soft stone to work with but also quite suitable for making jewelry that receives light wear such as earrings.

We started this project by melting down fine silver and pure copper to create an ingot of 93% silver alloy. Consequently our alloys are a little on the rich side of .925 Sterling. Copper alone is the remaining 7%. We do not add base metal in our alloy so there is less chance for any allergic reaction.

The weight of this well built, handcrafted pair is about 4.2 grams.

All of our jewelry is made with the old fashioned hand hammered technique. We start by alloying an ingot then proceed with hammering, rolling, filing, sawing, soldering, drilling, sanding and polishing. We do not sell castings and never use glue in our heirloom quality jewelry.
