Antique order Victorian Baby Christening Gown, Fine Lawn Cotton with Yards and Yards of Lace, Ribbons and Bows, 40" Long, Excellent Condition

order This is an utterly divine antique Victorian baby christening gown. It is hard to know how to begin describing this little treasure. First off, it measures approx. 40" from the shoulder to hem. It has puffy full sleeves with ribbon and lace at the cuff, the bodice is made from lace with ribbon insets. and has ruffled lace at the neckline and more ribbon. The body of the dress is made from a very fine white lawn fabric. The hem is trimmed with more rows of lace, these measure approx. 10" wide and end with a gently gathered lace ruffle. The ribbon trim is tied at the side with bows.
I would imagine this was meant to fit a newborn, it measures approx. 7 1/3' shoulder to shoulder and is 40" in length. The sleeves measure approx. 6" long, armholes to cuff. It has ribbon ties at the neck for closure. It has enclosed French seams.

Describing this darling gown as a treasure is a major understatement, I think it is the prettiest one I have ever seen. It comes with a darling little hand made quilted blanket tied with little wool puffs. The inside is filled with wool. It is a very lightweight cotton white fabric. The edges of the blanket are finished with a 2 1/2" ruffle on all 4 sides.

Both pieces have been hand laundered in Woolite and are free of stains. My home is non smoking.
