This piece had all of the best things happen to it, from the forming process, all the way through the 3 day wood firing.
After the piece was thrown on the potters wheel I enhanced the shape by paddling, and rolling, and reshaping to create the vertical angular edges.
The design is empress into the surface of the clay, and then high lighted during the firing process.

The surface effects and coloration are results of the flame
and natural ash of a 64 hour woodfiring in a local Seagrove, NC wood kiln.

The interior of the vase is glazed with a buttery order gold Shino glaze made with a local clay.
