Pair Antique Sand order Majolica Barbotine Baskets

Intricate antique English Barbotine Majolica creamy white baskets with beautiful applied white gilded flowers and leaves. c. 1850-1900's Each basked has a unique twisted double handle. Each as a classic sand finish and ruffled edges. Made in England c. 1880's. Each basket is in Excellent antique condition consistent with the age of the pieces. As with all majolica pieces, some chips and flakes or a missing leaf or petal is common along with minor crazing, and does not distract from the beauty of these baskets. A must have for collectors! Will look great in any room or simply display for their striking beauty! Makes a unique gift!

Victorian majolica properly refers to two types of majolica made in the second half of the 19th century in Europe and America. The best known is the renowned mass-produced majolica decorated with coloured lead glazes, made in Britain, Europe and the US; typically hard-wearing, surfaces moulded in relief, vibrant translucent glazes, in occasionally classical but mostly naturalistic styles, often order with an element of High Victorian whimsy.
