Description

Product Name: Large Oval Disc Cutter Set of Four Sizes 13x18mm to 22x30mm order (DA2415)

OVAL DISC CUTTER with 4 LARGE SIZES
Cut perfect ovals every time! This small, economical disc cutter features 4 punches ranging in size from 13x18mm up to 22x30mm. The tool's holes have been reamed and honed to make fine, clean cuts. The punches are oil-quenched tool steel that have been drawn for hardness and durability. The base is case-hardened and ground. You can cut soft sheet up to 20ga.

The tool measures about 3" x 2-3/4".

Sizes include: 13x18, 16x21, 19x24 and 22x30mm

We recommend using a brass mallet (1lb. to 2lb. preferred) to prevent damage to your disc cutter. You should also use bur & tool lube to reduce friction and wear on the punches.

Importance of Using a Brass Hammer
When using a disc cutter (or design punches or other order steel tools), you should avoid using a jeweler's hammer, ball peen hammer, household hammer or any other steel hammer. Using them can be dangerous.

Steel hammers are hardened. When you strike a steel tool, there is a great possibility that the impact can cause one or both of the tools to crack or shatter. This will damage the tool and can send shards of metal flying.

A brass hammer is softer than the steel tool you will strike. Because of this, the tools won't be damaged. Yes, the brass hammer will get marred (it is supposed to) and brass can "rub off" on the struck end of the tool, but this is a small price for safety and keeping your tools in good condition.

Hint:
Use a brass hammer with some "heft" to it. A 1lb. or 2lb. mallet is preferred depending on what is comfortable for you to handle. It should not take more than one blow to punch out a disc. If it does, you are not hitting the disc cutter hard enough. One clean blow will give you a crisp, sharp disc. Multi blows can cause uneven edges, deformation, flaring and other problems.
