Antique Whitehead & Hoag Co. celluloid fraternal order handshake pin, featuring a nice turn of the century handshake illustration, an early c-catch closure, a patent year, and another date of "Mar 7 '98" (1898) marked just below the patent date. Whitehead & Hoag pins are pretty easy to find, but what makes this pin particularly interesting is the fact that the handshake appears to be between a lady and a gentleman, which is incredibly rare for the era in which this pin is dated and quite strange for a piece linked so closely to fraternal orders Aside from the slightly darker spot over the lady's hand, this pin is in wonderful condition for it's age. Measuring approximately 3" long and 1.5" at the widest point, with no notable flaws or major defects.
