It is difficult to photograph the true beauty of this unique necklace. The sparkling oval green amethyst beads are the star of the show here, translucent with the slightest hint of green and enhanced nicely by the darker green apatite heishi beads around them. The smoky quartz and copper pyrite join in to give the necklace a bit of earthiness, and the 14K gold-filled "stardust" round beads have a muted tone, not shiny, which give the whole piece a hip, vintage feel. METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES:

PRASIOLITE, sometimes-known as "green amethyst" or "green quartz" is an example of using the power and pure coolness of science to create something very beautiful. Prasiolite is a form of quartz that is pale green and results from treating "regular" purple amethyst (also a form of quartz) with heat. While this can occur naturally under certain auspicious circumstances, it is rare; and most of the prasiolite that we see in jewelry today has been created by people, by treating purple amethyst with heat and subjecting it to an ionizing radiation procedure. The finest results of this chemistry produce a stone that is pale green, translucent, very sparkly, and absolutely gorgeous. When you see this beautiful stone in person, you understand the desire to create this sublime color and why this is a stone we are seeing more and more in modern jewelry.

Prasiolite is closely related to purple amethyst, which activates the crown chakra, and to citrine, which activates the solar plexus chakra (and is also another type of quartz which can occur naturally or be produced by heat-treating purple amethyst). As a green stone, prasiolite is associated with the heart chakra and, to me, it is kind of like a bridge between the crown and solar plexus, or an instrument that helps to align those two chakras. For this reason, I think it can help to translate spiritual ideals or goals into real-life action that can forward these ideals into the physical world and shared reality. In other words, it is a stone that can help you "walk the talk." Amethyst is the birthstone for February.

SMOKY QUARTZ is a grayish-brownish form of quartz and a powerful grounding tool which activates the root chakra. HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR JEWELRY:

To freshen your jewelry from day-to-day wear, gently use a soft toothbrush or cloth with some warm water and a drop of dish soap.

Gold jewelry is less likely to tarnish than silver, but if the jewelry becomes tarnished, you may safely use a dry polishing cloth. Alternatively, you may soak the jewelry for 10 minutes in an aluminum foil-lined bowl with a solution of 1 tsp. of baking soda and 1 cup of boiling water and then scrub gently with a soft toothbrush. If tarnish is particularly stubborn, add just a little water to some baking soda to make a paste and scrub gently with the toothbrush after soaking as mentioned above. I don't recommend using harsh chemical solutions with this jewelry. Be gentle when polishing, and don't use any more pressure than you would use to polish a necklace chain. The beading wire is strong, but you shouldn't pull at it.

You should always remove your jewelry before bathing or swimming, and be sure to apply perfume or hairspray BEFORE you put on your jewelry.

To clear the energy of the gemstones, I recommend using sage smoke (also called "smudging"). Your piece will be cleansed in this way before packing.

The best way to keep a piece of silver jewelry from tarnishing is to keep it in a sealed plastic bag with an anti-tarnish strip order in it (which I will include with your order).

HOW TO MEASURE FOR NECKLACE SIZE:

The easiest thing to do is to measure a necklace that you already have and like the length of. Otherwise, you can put a string around your neck and put it to the length you would like the necklace to be. Then, simply measure the string.
