Description

Product Name: Enso - Gold, order on canvas, Wonders of the Moment II

Acrylic paint gold on white canvas in stretcher frame, 40 cm x 40 cm (15.7 inches x 15.7 inches)

This gold-coloured enso on a white background shows a simple elegance that gives a very special atmosphere to the room in which it hangs.

The circle is a symbol from Zen Buddhism and is one of the most common signs of Japanese calligraphy. As a symbol of oneness, the circle is a cosmic symbol, an expression of man's unity with the universe.
It stands for the infinite, which contains all possibilities. The empty circle manifests silence as the primordial source of all creative power and reminds us to be present at all times, now and in this place.
The symbolism of the Zen circle is emphasized by the gold even more noble.

Whether accurately drawn or spontaneously bursting out of the brush, the circle can express insight into the mystery of ordinary life and invite us into the realm of profundity – from what is already visible – dewdrops, seeds, the pupil of the eye – to what cannot be grasped – the immeasurably large universe. (Kazuaki Tanahashi)

Calligraphy is the art of beautiful writing. Calligraphy opens the wall on which it hangs. It encourages pause and beyond the meaning of the sign, it spreads an atmosphere of peace, quiet and harmony.

Since calligraphy is also the art of the moment, it is closely linked to Zen Buddhidmus. Zen is a path to freedom through the concentrated one-direction of the mind, whose goal is the naked self-being show (Satori).

The graphology of the manuscript provides information about the master's skills. A "seal imprint of the heart" (ya-tzu), so to speak.
The writing and painting brush becomes a seismographic instrument, because the outer lines express the interior itself. All mindfulness is absorbed into the brushwork in the present moment.

Calligraphy is considered the most distinguished free art in Asia and is still considered a gift of high value today.

About my work:
I have been working as a freelance artist for over thirty years. I used to paint large colored acrylic paintings.
(see: www.ret-renateschmidt.de)

Through my intensive preoccupation with Far Eastern philosophy and religion, I was at some point attracted by the direct and spontaneous nature of Far Eastern ink painting and especially calligraphy.
Then I was lucky enough to meet KAZUAKI TANAHASHI, Kaz for short, he became my teacher of calligraphy and experienced order inspiring workshops with him in Berlin.
