Enameled metal greyhound sculpture on a metal base with an adjustable vertical bookend order. The patent mark on the bookend reads 1923, which may be the year of production - it's not a sure thing, but seems likely.

This object is Heavy for its size and shows signs of age and wear. The most obvious to me is the enamel loss on the dog, chipped down to the metal. Be sure to expand the images to get a good feel for condition. What isn't so obvious in the images, is that there is some crazing to the enamel. I didn't even see it at first, it's subtle. The enamel has kind of a pearly quality as well, which is a nice detail. There is green felt over much of the base to help save your furniture from scratches. I've only cleaned up one spot on the underside, metal area - this is otherwise in uncleaned, as-found condition. Books not included.

As someone who cares about books, I'd like to point out that the slider for the bookend is a metal strip and is probably thick enough that it could damage heavier books over time, or potentially abrade a cover if a book is slid across. I'll let you take it from there. This piece has many great qualities and is a beauty.
