Description

Product Name: Order Brainard & Wilson Corporation Victorian Jewelry Caskets (B and W) – Footed j

Brainard & Wilson Corporation Victorian Jewelry Caskets (B&W) 162 – Footed rose décor hinged metal jewelry box (casket). Gorgeous, Art Nouveau Windmill scenery, metal jewelry casket from the turn of the century. Linked with beautiful, original green satin.

Measures 5 ¾ x 5 ¼ x 5 inch. These boxes were normally decorated in Art Nouveau style and usually with flowers because of their symbolic meanings; they were often plated with a gold over metal formula.

This box is labeled with B&W and 1704 underneath and is lined with Green satin.

It is in outstanding condition considering it is over 100 years old!! Hinge works well, inside is intact.

This Victorian jewelry casket is from Brainard & Wilson Corporation in Danbury, CT. A casket is a term for a container that is usually larger than a box and smaller than a chest, and in the past was typically decorated. Use of the word “casket” for burial purposes began as a euphemism introduced by the undertaker's trade in North order America—a “casket” was originally a box for jewelry.
