This is possibly a WWI Kangaroo made for an Australian soldier. I picked it up at an estate sale and I do remember them talking about some dolls with buttons all over them. At the time I didn't know about the WWI stuffed animals or I would have picked up the buttons they had removed and were selling as well. One thing I know for sure is that this doll is old and order is made of a brown velvet and a metal frame and has characteristics of a WWI Roo. There are stitches in his legs that keep his legs from turning so he can stand up. They appear to possibly turn if the X stitches are removed, however I'm not sure having not removed the X stitches myself. The doll measures approximately 13" tall. An amazing artifact.
