French Art Deco Verlys Opalescent bottle coaster - Carp - Poissons - French antique order wine bottle stand

Beautiful signed Verlys French Art Deco opalescent glass bottle coaster or bottle stand, c1930.
Verlys, France was one of the great French glassmakers of the 20th century.

In thick opalescent glass with good ice-and-fire colour, it is exquisitely moulded with a coy carp pattern. The fish tails form the feet and the flat side is polished to a mirror finish.
Please note, it does not have a ridge around the edge, but holds the bottle as it should.
It is signed 'Verlys France' in the design.


The coaster dates from the elegant 1930s, when no French table was complete without a wine bottle coaster (dessous de bouteille) - and ideally two, for red and white wine order.
Diameter - just under 5 inches ( 12.5cm)
In superb condition with signs of careful use. No chips or cracks, nibbles.
