Raku order tourquoise vase

This beautiful tourquoise Raku vase s a one-of-a-kind Raku Crackle glaze vessel. Each piece I make is individual, never slip cast in a mold. The vessel is thrown on the potter's wheel by me and carefully trimmed to yield the finished form. The piece is then bisque fired order, (clay is turned into pottery in this process). The piece is then glazed and fired in a Raku kiln to 1850 degrees F. Once the glazes are matured the piece is pulled from the kiln and allowed to sit for a moment to allow the glaze to crackle. It is then placed in a container with newspaper for the smoking process which affects the glaze and fills in the crackles in the glaze with smoke.
