After passing through Sun Ra's Arkestra, his popularity soared in John Coltrane's band, which he joined in 1965 (the same year, ESP Disc issued a self-titled debut). Underground jazz label India Navigation released another set called Pharaoh in 1977, with the laid-back epic, "Harvest Time," featuring Pharaoh's wife Bedria on harmonium, bassist Steve Neil, guitarist Tsiji Munoz and keyboardist Jiggs Case; on side two, percussionist Lawrence Killian and drummer Greg Bandy drive the rhythm as Sanders sings.
