Very Antique Chinese Classic Rectangular Cloisonné Enameled All Copper Box, from about 1880, ending of the Qing Dynasty. Thick copper box, weighing 7 ounces, 3 3/4” long, 3” wide, and 1 5/8” tall. Enamel Cloisonné depiction of white Cherry Blossoms, articulated with black lines on an earth tone cherry red background. Inside and on the box bottom is a monochrome turquoise enamel; thick, shiny layering. Feet are forged copper with smooth bottoms so this box won't scratch table surfaces. Hinge is strong and slightly off kilter. He back of top has a lengthwise crack damage that has been sanded down over the years. The same crack even show up as enamel flaking (long ago) on the inside turquoise enamel. (The crack shows how thick the enamel is.) Box opens fully and stays open. Copper throughout is thick, substantial. This Classic Red and White Cherry order Blossom Motif all copper box is very collectible and is a Classic Qing Dynasty export. This was used as a smoking stuff box.
