Dutch blue and white porcelain techniques came in The Netherlands in the 17th century from China. This technique for porcelain glazing and decoration quickly became popular and many factories started producing blue porcelain. Delft Blue Factory was the one factory that made only handprinted porcelain for which it became popular. Delftware is one of the types of tin-glazed earthenware in which a white glaze is applied. The famous blue colors comes from painting with the lack pigment cobalt oxide which later turns blue during firing.

Enjoy the beauty and craftsmanship of Royal Delft. This is a very beautiful and rare charger plate. It is a vintage item made by Royal Delft (signature stamp on the back) and it is a hand painted pattern. It depicts order an original self-portrait painting of Rembrandt from 1635 - "Rembrandt as an officer". Rembrandt was the first painter to often make self portraits of himself. There are more than 80 completed self portraits from Rembrandt known. The size of this plate is about 30cm, it is ready to hang with a small hook on the back. It is also great for a display cabinet. It is an ultimate collection piece of Delft pottery.

Its in great condition, no chips and no cracks.
