Mid-Century Sascha Brastoff order "More Gold" Ceramic Shell Sculpture

Great Mid Century accent piece ,a signed Ceramic shell vessel by Sascha B (Sascha Brastoff) My grandmother collected her work. The 1950's Gold collection has a number of names "More Gold", "Midas".. a gold leaf variegated glaze. Broad textured brushstrokes. In pristine condition. Sits flat on signed base. Dimensions are approximate 6.5" D X 6.75" W X 4.5" H

Sascha Brastoff (1918-1993) was a costume designer for 20th Century Fox when Winthrop Rockefeller happened upon one of Sascha's sculptures and offered to finance him. In 1947, his ceramics business opened in West LA and Sascha's lavish and flamboyant style became available in bowls, vases, dishes, and ashtrays. Sascha went on to design custom jewelry, and his work is part order of the permanent collection at New York's Guggenheim Museum and Museum of Modern Art, as well as other institutions in LA and Houston
