The bowl was hand-hammered by an artisan from copper, zinc, tin, iron, and brass. Etched on the side of the bowl is what I think is a Buddhist mantra meant to purify the mind and soul. Running a striker along the rim creates complex, harmonic tones. Tapping the bowl with a wooden striker generates a bell sound that signifies the beginning or ending of a chant. It measures 7" across. When sitting on the table 3 1/2" H. And it's very heavy weighing 2.7 pounds. How old is it?
