Exceptional PAIR of ART order DECO Marble photo frames

An unusual find is the very decorative pair of photo frames from 1930's France. The forms are absolutely classic art deco designs, with scalloped supports. This has been used to create two eye-catching combinations of contrasting and richly colored and veined marble pieces.

The polished bases are made from different types of marbles in a wide range of colors. The condition is pretty good after 80 or more years of display. There are no cracks, only a few small “nibbles” order that can be felt along some edges, and one base has a chip (ca 15mm) on a bottom corner (see the photographs). Owing to the highly patterned nature of the marbles, these signs of wear are barely noticeable and certainly do not diminish the aesthetic appeal of the pieces.

The fan-like marble supports are slotted to receive the photo glasses. These panes are the original glasses. The front panes have bevelled edges and the rear are plain glass. As you can see from the photographs, there is wear along the edges of these glasses in the form of several small chips. Happily when on display with photos, all these minor defects are not seen since they are hidden inside the marble slots or behind the photo. Most collectors are happy to have original pieces, but such glass can easily be replaced if required by a new owner.

This classic pair of frames would make a unique gift for friends or family, and would look fantastic combined with either period and contemporary décor. They could also be used in a restaurant or hotel to display a menu or other information.

When you examine the photos using the magnification function you actually see much more than with the naked eye, so do check them carefully.
