1st Ed. order 1969 A Taste Of India by Mary S. Atwood Vintage Cookbook

A first edition hardback copy of Mary S. Atwood's "A Taste of India: Adventures in Indian order cooking prepared for the American kitchen" in excellent condition.

This pioneering book is overall in excellent condition without tears, highlighting, or damage to the pages. No dust jacket, but this particular copy has had a clear plastic protective film placed over it, visible in the photos. There is one in pen inscription to the left of the title page, as seen in the photo, and there are a few notes in pencil inside. The binding is tight and the spine is sturdy. The pages have yellowed from age.

This is a great reference book for Indian cooking at home. Mary S. Atwood, like her counterpart Julia Child, was the wife of an American diplomat who found herself in India where she fell in love with the cuisine and adapted traditional recipes for modern American kitchens. This would make an excellent addition to your vintage cookbook collection, and would also make a great gift.
