Free motion stitching with cotton thread secures the raw edge appliqued strips of batiks and hand dyed cotton fabrics. Decorative stitching consists of metallic, viscose, rayon, and silk threads sewn into line and circle designs. Some of the more delicate threads that could not be machine stitched required hand embroidery and machine couching (stitching over another thread). The reflective nature of the decorative threads works best when there is a bright light source nearby. Then the design really shines in colors of gold, silver, pink, purple and metallic blue. The quilt is edged in a purple/navy batik traditional binding. order A split hanging sleeve has been sewn onto the back and a wooden dowel will be included for easy hanging on one nail.
