The 5-decade Catholic rosary was designed by sculptor Cesare Civelli and is one of the few patented rosaries. Civelli rosaries are made from "ivorine," a celluloid-type plastic made to resemble ivory. The images on the oval beads portray the Litany of the Blessed Virgin (Litany of Loreto) with Latin inscriptions on the reverse. The pendant comprises five pentagonal-shaped beads showing the three original sets of mysteries, the gospel writers, and the four basilicas of Rome. The Regina Pacis or Queen of Peace center reliquary holds soil from the Catacombs of Rome. The crucifix is marked Roma and PAT C Civelli. The rosary is in good condition. The chain is in good condition. All beads are present. The rosary shows wear from use.
