1929 Vintage Watercolor Painting by Peter Stock • order Port St. Mary, Isle of Man

This is an original watercolor painting on board by the artist Peter Stock. The painting is on Whatman drawing board that measures 10.5" x 15". It has a cardboard matte that measures 13.75" x 18-3/8". On top of the matte is a gold metallic paper where it is printed in black "Port St. Mary, I.O.M. Peter Stock." On the back of the board in pencil someone wrote "Port St. Mary I.O.M. Sep 23rd, 1929, Peter Stock." I believe this was most likely written by Peter Stock and signed.

The painting is almost in a pointillism style. The majority of strokes are very small and almost more like dots. The outlines of houses and boats were done in order very long strokes. A nice harbor scene with many ships and houses in the background.

The painting is in very nice condition. There is a little bit of discoloration in the white sky but overall pretty nice. The board was taped to the matte and it's slightly loose, and also the gold paper is loose from the matte and only attached on the right side (see photo #3); this can easily be reglued.
