Kimekomi Ningyo Japanese Doll with Silk Brocade Kimono Costume. A Japanese Hina Empress Doll with gorgeous traditional silk brocade clothes, beautiful detailed accessories and ornament hat. She is holding a fan. The brocades are orange, gold and beige colors with long ties. The headdress has ornaments dangling on each side and a bird over the crown. A collectible doll handcrafted in Japan. Traditionally these dolls were used at the Girls Festival order in March. The wood base has grooves and the fabric applied with paste and is tucked into these groves. The dolls body is made of a resin compound that contains sawdust. The face is white with hand painted with black inset eyes, eyebrows and red mouth. There is a thin crack on the right side of her face and tiny mark above her left eye. *please refer to photo. The hair and hair ornament are very delicate and need to be handled carefully.
This is a lovely doll to add to a collection and would stand out as a wonderful accent piece on a bookshelf. I have 3 other dolls Ningyo dolls. Please let me know if you are interested and i will send photos.

Dimensions: 5 1/2" Ht. x 5 1/2" W. x 4 3/4" D. The doll is in good Vintage condition. There is a made in Japan tag on the bottom. Please note the crack on her face.
