Royal Aztec Lavender Lace Agate Cabochon, Handmade Cabochons by MagicStones.

This cabochon of Royal Aztec Lace Agate is a superlative example of this precious and elusive gemstone. Aztec Lace agate was mined back in the 60's in Durango, Mexico and was found in thin seams yielding beautiful but smaller stones. I recently acquired an unusually large piece of this exquisite agate from an old collection. As I cut into this huge stone I couldn't believe my eyes. Each cut revealed the most extraordinary patterns in flawless agate- the best of which I cut into a handful of cabochons.

Gorgeous bands of lavender in all shades swirl around a translucent clear agate outlined in white.

40mm x 25mm x 5.5mm
2mm girdle
45.3 ct

I make all my cabochons by hand in my home studio. Unless otherwise noted all my gems are domed on the front and are flat with a slight bevel on the back for ease in setting. The sides are cut at a slight angle for ease of setting. I polish the front, back and sides of each stone.
