Vintage 1996 order Indigenous Rising Wolf Drawing by Ron Solonas

order This is an untitled vintage original Indigenous pen-and-ink drawing by Ron Solonas. It depicts a smiling wolf in a coastal birch forest overseen by a crescent moon. People respect the Wolf for its strength, intelligence, and capacity for family devotion – Wolves are frequently representative of strong family relations, hunting skill, good communication, and transformative abilities. Moon is known as a protector and guardian. It is also associated with abilities to affect human emotions as well as transformation, due to its influence over the tides and the colour of the sky. This piece measures 15" x 11", and was drawn in 1996.

Ron Solonas is a member of the Tsekani First Nation, from the interior of British Columbia. He is known for his distinct style, marked by complex linework, realistic animal figures, and bold use of colour. Ron passed away in July, 2019.
