There's a Lot of Good in Her order

A sincere doll head and butterfly embellishment from an estate sale sit atop a heart-shaped copper baking tin from my neighbors Mallory and Emily. She has arms and legs--metal pieces and jewelry bits bolted to the side and hung on vintage chains to the bottom of the tin--but the most interesting part is inside her. There I unleashed my shiny, colorful mob of stuff. There are shiny metal bells from craft projects when my kids were little, a dinosaur made out of a gourd in Mexico with a bobbly head, a big gold plaster heart, a Mexican tin ornament bird, used-up paint by number containers, and a variety of vintage jewelry fragments. On the side of order the heart tin is pasted a notation written in ball point pen on a piece of notebook paper: "She's got a lot of good in her." And please believe that she does.
