Order Bud Vase in Maple - Handmade Wooden Dried Flower Vase

This maple vase is highly figured, with burls and ripple effects.

Burls (or burrs) are commonly found in the form of a rounded outgrowth on a tree trunk or branch that is filled with small knots from dormant buds. Burl formation is typically a result of some form of stress, such as an injury or a viral or fungal infection.

Ripple effects are the result of a tree being under stress, as it grows. For example, at the base of an old tree or under a heavy branch.

My bud vases are turned on the lathe and shaped by eye, using hand tools.

I work only with British-grown timber that is responsibly sourced. The trees have either fallen or have been professionally felled, usually because they have reached the end of their lives or are storm damaged.
