Vintage faceted chrome diopside - a clean vintage faceted gemstone. This is a dark green oval cut stone which was custom cut in the 1980s from rough that Joel acquired from the USSR in 1978. Overall the stone is eye clean and well polished. The dimensions are 9.1x7.0 mm, calibrated for easy setting.

Chrome diopside is one of a number of gems that have made the transition from "collector stones" to "commercial gems" in the last 20 years. The color is that of the finest emerald, but chrome diopside is much cleaner and not as brittle as emerald.
