Epoxy order Microglia

Microglia has become a real star in neurobiology. While it was initially thought to just play the role of cleaning up the nervous system, it is now clear that it plays key roles during development and is largely implicated in neurodegeneration.

This cell was cut out of a slab of solid Walnut with a scroll saw and the hole was filled with epoxy. The piece is then protected with varnish.
