The Pillow Case

- Made from a vintage Iraqi Marsh 'عرب الأهوار‎' wedding blanket, this cushion cover is completely unique
- The motifs, often depicting animals geometric designs, and flowers, have been embroidered with wool yarn
- The base of the blanket is handwoven, onto which the designs are then embroidered
- Multiple bright colours depending on light. Photographed with different light sources to showcase this.
- Cotton back with a zip close.
- 80cm x 40cm (31" x 16") - roughly!

Iraqi Marsh People

- These rugs were originally embroidered by the Marsh People of Southern Iraq. Typically, two naturally brown wool kilims would be sewn together (a symbol of unity in marriage) and covered densely with intricate designs in a most unpredictable range of colours.
- Sadly, many of the Marsh Arabs have been forced from the Marshlands due to the regime of Saddam Hussein
- Due to being hand made, order there might be some imperfections and sizing differences.
