Kumiko order rectangular box

Rectangular box decorated with a Kumiko motif. The box is made of cherry with padouk. The kumiko consists of a walnut Goma pattern complete with an Ebony Asanoha pattern from Gabon, amaranth, padouk and walnut on a lime mesh.

Kumiko is a wood art native to Japan, which consists of assembling order thin strips of wood on a triangular, diamond or square lattice to form geometric patterns.
Originally, this technique was used in traditional Japanese architecture to decorate the Shoji, wooden screens and rice paper that separated the rooms from each other and from the outside, to allow the transmission of light. Anchored in the Japanese aesthetic of the search for a simple beauty, the Kumiko was reserved for the richest, and was a symbol of refinement.
