Vintage Mexico order Sterling Silver Aztec Mayan Calendar Square Cufflinks and Tie Clip Jewelry Set - 3 Pieces #d440

These wonderful Mexican cufflinks and tie bar clip are early Mexican pieces that date to circa the 1950s. They are square in shape with hammered edges. A detailed circular design of an Aztec or Mayan calendar sits on the front of each piece in the set. The calendar symbols are raised and shiny silver and stand out against the recessed areas that are oxidized black. The tie bar clip also has an engraved design on the front of the clip portion of the piece that adds additional visual interest. The fantastic symbols give the pieces a lovely textured appearance. The cufflinks are toggle style and the tie bar clip has an alligator mechanism, all of which are handmade. It's a superb vintage set!

The fronts of the cufflinks measure about 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch and they have a depth of approximately 3/4 inch. They are signed and hallmarked "Hecho En Mexico", Sterling", "925" and with a maker's mark of a letter H or M that I could not identify on the back of both cufflinks. They are also stamped on the backs with an Eagle 28 Mark and marked "Alpaca" on the toggle portions of each cufflink. Alpaca silver (a metal alloy) is often used for the functional portions of Mexican jewelry for added durability and affordability. The tie bar clip measures about 9/16 inch long and 1 1/2 inches wide. order It is hallmarked "Sterling Mexico" and with a maker's mark that I could not decipher on the back. The combined weight of all of the pieces is 17.1 grams.

This gorgeous handmade jewelry set would make a great gift for anyone who appreciates fine Mexican silver jewelry. The set is unisex in style and could be worn by either a man or a woman. The cufflinks and the tie clip are in excellent vintage condition with mild patina from age. Being handmade, they may exhibit slight variations in construction that would not be present in machine-made pieces. They are a marvelous find!
