Jean Roger was born in Nîmes ( Southern France) in 1924. He studied at the School of Decorative Art in Nice with Andre Maillart for painting and with Jules Lengrand for drawing. He was associated to the Fauvism movement for order the use of strong colors in his compositions and landscapes. Roger exhibited in the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris.

The painting is in good general condition. Some cracks in the borders and corners due to the old age.
