Product Name: Rare Stanley No. 7 Plane, Type 8, Jointer order Plane, c. 1899-1902

When I purchased this plane , I did not realize it was so old. It's almost 120 years old. As you would imagine, the japanning is almost completely gone. It has the low knob, the very early rail bed for the frog, no patent dates, Stanley is stamped on the side-to-side lever, and it has the keyhole style opening on the lever cap. Knowing you patina boys, I kept my cleaning to a minimum. I cleaned it with a soft brush and wd-40 and 0000 steel wool. The iron and chip breaker were covered with smutz which I buffed off. There are no cracks, breaks, or signs of repairs. The iron still has lots of life but is just barely readable. All screws and washers were cleaned, buff and oiled. The sole has some very, very minor pitting near toe which will not affect its performance.
