Stunning Dress Clip, Ornate Silver Filigree order Organic Carved Coral

This ornately filigreed dress clip has 3 sets of delicately carved and polished coral leaves.
In addition, there are 3 small domed cabochons as flower centers. These are possibly made of glass.

Dress clips, similar to fur and shoe clips were made in early 1900's and quite popular to embellish dresses in many different ways. Most often used on necklines and straps, however sometimes used on capes or coats. Well, anywhere you fancy!

Though very hard to see (even with high magnification) underneath the clip hinge is a series of numbers, assuming it's the patent number. The silver filigree is excellent and appears as intricate lace!
I'm not sure of the base metal of the silvered filigree petals appearing as flowers underneath the coral leaves. Much patina and I have not polished it, as in original found condition.

Coral is an ancient gemstone, and has been used for thousands of years. Aside from the lovely solid colors found in Coral, it can also have color zones or swirls, with white, pink, orange, and red being the most prevalent. Its relative softness, which lends itself to elaborate carvings such as intricate cameos; and the way it can be polished to a glossy, lustrous finish.
Due to environmental protection laws worldwide, production of Coral for the gemstone trade is on the decline and is becoming most valued and scarce.
I did the acetone test to assure it's authentic coral.
Dress clips have a larger and wider piece of metal which has "teeth" intended to grasp thin material like a dress or shirt. There are many styles of dress clips. Some were flat hinged pieces of metal with no decoration and others were ornately filigreed in design. Normally, a patent number is found on the underneath part of the hinge mechanism.

Measures almost 2 1/2" across.
