He's porcelain and stands on a pedestal. The pedestal is outfitted with a magnet on the bottom, supposedly to help his stability on a metal desk. The dog is about 7 & 3/4 inches long and 6 inches tall. The detail and quality are extraordinary, and he is free of chips or cracks. His origins are probably from one of the high-quality, well-known Japanese companies, but this is only a guess. The porcelain marks are hidden with an applied fabric on the bottom of the figurine.
