Merovingian (Frankish) / Carolingian langsax(long scramasaxe) based on an artefact now kept in the burghofmuseum in Soest, Germany. The reconstruction is 82 centimeters long, including 25 centimeters of handle length, which is very atypical, and makes this artifact very interresting, allowing to handle it with one, or two hands! The blade is 51crv4 steel hardened in factory heat threatment to 50 HRC. Walnut wood handle. Weight around 600-700g only!
Blunted edges (2,5mm thick) for safe modern medieval fighting, like eastern, western, huscarl style.
Culture: Carolingian / Frankish - late Merovingian
Datation: 7-8 century.
