Japanese order Antique Wooden Makie Red Lacquered Pedestal Plates 6 Stacking Dishes A set of 6 Japanese shallow footed bowls or dishes in red lacquer with predominantly gold Makie design probably circa 1920s-1930s Taisho period. Each was decorated with hiramakie painting of different motifs, mostly gold, black and pewter color. Interesting and delicately hand painted scene of ship on the sea and different people in the nature. These lovely lacquerware were made to serve foods during elaborate banquet. In great condition for their age overall with light signs of wear commensurate with age and use, like small nicks, paint loss, hair line crack and scratches. Measures approximately from 8.2" diameter and 1.7" tall (large one) to 4.5" diameter and 1" tall (smallest one). Please review all the photos for exact condition description.
