Antique 19th century Victorian cream embroidered ladies hand held folding fan, wedding brides fan, theatre costume prop, Steampunk fan.
Lovely Victorian fan with a cream silk satin leaf which is painted and embroidered with cream roses and their foliage. This is backed by a matching cream cotton fabric so the inner sticks are sandwiched between the 2 layers of fabric thus hidding them. The outer guards and sticks are just a simple plain design with just a slight beveled edged down the outer guards.
Measures approx 32 cm long by 62 cm wide when fully opened.
Condition
Generally in reasonable condition for it's age with the front satin leaf having just a few small order splits down the folds, the longest being about 4 cm. There is also a little bit of staining throughout but mainly to the top left area. The back of the fan is in a worst condition with the fabric having numerous splits down the grain of the fabric so going across the fan and one piece missing thus showing the paper that it is backed with. The back guard has had a good repair done on it and a small crack across the very bottom near where it pivots.
